William "Bill" Thomas Rotureau Sr., 85, died Sunday, December 11, 2011. He was born October 22, 1926 in Columbia, South Carolina to Ben and Hazel Rotureau, one of four children, brother, Ben, sister, Frances Bates and sister, Emily Manley.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Rotureau, their 12 children, 28 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ben; sister, Frances; grandson John and grandson, Michael and wife, Ginny Rotureau.
Bill was a lifetime member of Acaia Lodge #94 and past Master of the lodge. He was a member of both the York and Scottish Rites and Jamil Temple. Bill was in the Order of the Arrow and was a Past Scout
Master for Troop 335 for the Carolina Children's Home from 1968-1972. He was a master electrician and worked with his father at Rotureau Electric Company before he moved to
Colorado Springs in 1975 where he was part owner of WM Restaurant Equipment until 2005, when he retired.
Bill graduated his senior year of high school in 3 months, where his mother, Hazel, gladly accepted his diploma so he could serve his country during WWII, where he served in the Pacific Theater.
Bill loved his family and no one was ever a stranger.
Viewing in Colorado Springs, Colorado will be held Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home.
Viewing in Columbia, South Carolina will be held Monday, December 19, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
