William Wallace Brodie, resident of Hyde Park for 17 years, and formerly of Chestnut Ridge, NY, Passed away on April 5, 2013, with his wife of 54 years, Roberta, at his side.
He was 77 years old.
His kind and gentle demeanor made him loved by all. His smile and quick wit always lifted people's spirits.
He was a science teacher and guidance counselor in the Clarkstown School District for 32 years. He was an award-winning woodcarver, was involved with amateur radio and wine making. He occasionally enjoyed the fruits of his labor.
Bill served as president of the School Counselors of Rockland County, was a member of WPRCA, the Town of Hyde Park Historical Society, and was a Eucharistic Minister.
His pride and joy were his five grandchildren, Liam, Kelsey, Madison, Matthew and Samantha. He is also survived by son Kevin and wife Bonnie of Central Valley, son Patrick and fiancée Amy, of Kailua, HI, sister Margaret Lawler and husband Brendan of Lagrange, brother Harry and wife Angela of MD, and brother Tom of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James A. Garisto at 10am Tuesday, April 9th, at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 299 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Church, 6 Father Cody Plaza, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
