Mr. Willis Thornton, 59, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Thursday December 9, 2010 at his home. He was born June 17, 1951 in Lehi, Arkansas, the son of Willis Thornton and Jesse (Harris) Thornton. Willis was a carpenter. He is survived by his companion - Brenda of South Bend, IN; seven sisters - Dorothy (Robert) Nelson of Little Rock, AR, Martha Williams of West Memphis, AR, Betty Evans of Kingsford Heights, IN, Rose Bynum of Kingsford Heights, IN, Bobbie (Chester) Thompson of Herald, AR, Wilma Williams of West Memphis, AR, Freddie Thornton of West Memphis, AR; two brothers - Arthur Thornton of Memphis, TN, and Larry (Toni) Thornton of Kingsford Heights, IN. Willis was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Annie Thornton, Lorene Bean, and Mary Thornton. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Kingsford Heights on Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 10:00 am, until time of service. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Kingsford Heights on Thursday December 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM with John T. Talley III officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
