Winona C. Hogge

Wicomico: Winona Colona Hogge, died at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital January 3, 2012. She was originally from Hopewell, Virginia where she graduated from high school in 1944 and graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1948. She trained to be a school teacher, and served as a fourth grade teacher at Hayes Elementary School in Gloucester, before going to work at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station. She retired a chemist from the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station Research and Development Ordnance Department in 1982. Winona was an active member of the Ruth Sunday School Class of Providence Baptist Church. She was active in various community organizations including the Abingdon Women's Club. Winona had interests in gardening, genealogy and general scientific and historical curiosity.

Children: Edward F. Hogge and wife Anne
Stuart D. Hogge and wife Maria
Bryan P. Hogge and wife Jane
Grandchildren: Emily, Peter, Daniel and Ben
Funeral services officiated by Reverend Dr. Richard Croxton will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Providence Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
