Woodson D Moore passed away Jan 6, 2012 at Hospice House in NKC Hospital following a two year battle with cancer. He was born September 18, 1936 near Princeton, MO to Freddie and Wilma Moore. He grew up on the family farm near Modena, MO. After graduation from Princeton High School he attended Northwest Missouri State College earning a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education. He taught two years at Princeton High School before accepting a position in the North Kansas City District where he taught accounting and business at NKC High School for thirty two years. He retired in 1992. Woodson was a Baptist accepting the Lord as his Savior as a young boy. Following his retirement from teaching he pursued his love of Biblical Studies earning a Masters of Divinity at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1995. He was elected to Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges. He was an ordained minister serving as pastor of Syracuse Baptist Church for several years. Woodson was a scholar and teacher whose Christian faith and love of learning influenced many. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in NKC . He taught and served his church in many capacities. He continued to teach a group in C.S. Lewis studies even after his illness confined him to home. He loved his family, music, reading and teaching. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and all those fortunate individuals whose lives he touched.

He is survived by Carol his devoted and loving wife of 48 years, their daughter Cindy and husband Matt Compton and four adored grandchildren Patrick, Brent, Allie and Charlie who were lucky to spend much of their early years with their beloved Papa. In addition he is survived by his sister Wanda and her husband Arlie Jackson, his brother Wendell as well as nieces and nephews and of course many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Wayne.

Visitation is scheduled Sun, Jan 8 from 5-7 p.m . at the First Baptist Church, 2205 Iron Street, N.K.C., Mo. Funeral services will be held at the church at 11 a.m. Mon, Jan 9. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Kansas City North. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Woodson Moore Scholarship fund at North Kansas City High School.
