Kale - Sorry I missed the service, couldn't get out of some meetings in Santa Fe. I have been praying for you and your family since I heard about your Dad's passing - I will always think foundly of the Man who supported us in our youth and taught us what it was like to be a man. We were blessed to have those that could teach us that - something that is missing today! Love ya bro!

I was so sad to hear of your dad's passing. I have such great memories of him and the years that I worked for him at Galles on San Mateo. 21 years with the Galles' and Zane always made it fun. His positve attitude towards the daily trivial problems made it easier to work there. I will always remember him with his lunch on his tie!! He was a hoot!

Zane was all about his family, his wife Jackie and sons Kale and Kash. As did his father, O.B. King, who gave friendship and assistance to his three sisters and nieces and nephews, Zane became a sounding board and friend to his extended family. Zane, Larry and James, played golf once a year for the King brothers “annual golf tournament.” When Larry died unexpectedly and too soon in 1992, Zane flew to Hawaii and assisted Larry’s sons with final issues.

King, who gave friendship and assistance to his three sisters and nieces and nephews, Zane became a sounding board and friend to his extended family. Zane, Larry and James, played golf once a year for the King brothers “annual golf tournament.” When Larry died unexpectedly and too soon in 1992, Zane flew to Hawaii and assisted Larry’s sons with final issues. Zane took time to be with his cousin Joleen Noble and his Aunt Annette King Noble in California in their final days. He was a fund of information for the financial news and the nuances of football. He was a great listener and gave advice only when asked. Without braggadocio, Zane told great stories with self-deprecating humor. In the late ‘50s, he spent two years of active duty in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California. He volunteered in the Marine Corps’ Underwater Demolition Team. He and others on the UDT went to the coast of Viet Nam by submarine in 1958 or 1959 where they were dropped off, swam a mile to the shore, measured the tides for 12 to 24 hours and returned to the submarine. He continued to skin dive off the California coast and Catalina Island. After leaving active duty, he worked at a Pasadena shoe store and other jobs for a year or so. He then returned to Albuquerque, met and married Jackie and began his family. Bob and I will miss him and our conversations about anything and everything and offer our condolences to Kale and Kash for their loss.

Zane & I worked as "shoe Dogs" (Salesmen) for Roe Shoe Store on Central ave. We spend many a good times back in the 50"s. Zane broke me in as a salesman. He was a great guy!
