Zellah Jean "Jeanie" Stout, 67, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Sept. 28, 2011,
after a courageous battle with heart problems. Born on October 1, 1943, she
was preceded in death by her mother, father, and her brother. She is survived
by her loving husband, Jerry, sister-in-law JoAnn, and a family who adopted her
as their "other mother" and many, many friends.
Following retirement in 1996, Jeanie and Jerry moved from California to Hot
Springs, Arkansas in 1996. Jeanie enjoyed traveling, playing Mahjong, and
community service projects. She was an active member of Christway Unity
Church, Hot Springs Women's Welcome (President 2005), Busy Bee Home
Extension Club, The Hot Springs Diamonds, and Hot Springs Landlords
association. Jeanie also made excellent chili for crews of the Habitat for
Humanity workers.
Jeanie's family would like to thank the UAMS medical team (specifically Dr.
Toblar, his staff, and the H4 nursing staff) for their gentle, loving care to both
Jeanie and the family during her last battle.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Christway
Unity Church, 300 Oaklawn, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Jeanie will be celebrating
her birthday in heaven that day, and we will be celebrating her life here on
earth. Following the service please join us at the church fellowship hall and
share your favorite memories and express your condolences. Gross Funeral
Home of Hot Springs will be overseeing the cremation. In lieu of flowers,
donations to the Garland County Humane Society, Christway Unity Church, or
St. Jude's Children's Hospital is requested.
