Nila Albrecht Carlson
Nila Albrecht Carlson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, 92 of Orem, Utah passed away at her home on September 10, 2008. She was born August 6, 1916, in Fremont, Utah to Earl LeRoy and Evalena Balle Albrecht. She was the third of six children.
She graduated from Wayne County High School as Valedictorian. She attended BYU for a short time. She also served a mission in the North Central States.
One of her greatest desires was to continue her education and obtain a degree - she did obtain a degree - a MOM degree.
Nila married Glen Martin Carlson on June 18, 1943, in the Manti Temple. She raised twelve children. Their posterity includes 63 grandchildren, 90 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Charity and service were her hallmarks. She served her community as PTA president and various community fund raising projects such as Cancer and Heart Drives and Easter Seals.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in numerous callings including Stake Primary and Relief Society Presidencies and in all ward auxiliaries.
Glen and Nila served a mission to the Philippines in 1986-1988.
Nila loved many activities including working in the yard and caring for flowers and garden and her chickens for many years. Mom's neighbors on 400 West are like family.
Nila is survived by her twelve children: Carol Sue (Frank) Prows, DeEtte Carter, Glenda (Dennis) Nordfelt, Dick (Vickey) Carlson, Margo (Kendall) Harward, Jenette (Gil) Savage, Kendal (Arlene) Carlson, Fred (Charlene) Carlson, Debbie (Doug) Lang, Wendy (Kent) Mortensen, Kerry (Paul) Mansfield and Rob (Lisa) Carlson. Also her thirteenth child and caregiver: Lili Lorenzo. Nila is also survived by sisters Donna and Beth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen Carlson, son-in-law Frank Prows, grandson David Prows, granddaughter Kirstin Tuttle, great-great grandson Tristin Curtis, sister Emma Sorensen and brother Rex Albrecht.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Perpetual Education or Missionary Fund.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the Windsor Stake Center, 60 East 1600 North Orem, Utah. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Windsor Stake Center and at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to service. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
