Memories & Candles
Barb & family: I was out of town at the time of your mothers service. Was so sorry to miss it. Such good memories of your mother; such a pleasant person every time I saw her. So sorry for your loss.

Pat, Barb, Beth, and Mike,
Will never forget your Mom, especially as she was, over several years, one of the best Campfire Girl troop leaders! And then, the Mom who got several of us to Aquinas on time when the snow was falling fast, furious, and deep! Will miss the chats that we had when I saw her at the Kensington. With prayers, Kathy

I am sorry for your loss. I would chat with Maxine when I visited my parents Norman and Cleo Hatala at the Kensington. She was always pleasant and we had a few laughs. We also talked about her time as a nurse during WWII. Thinking of you.

She will surely be missed! I was so appreciative of a note she wrote and dropped in the mail just this past spring. I loved seeing her handwriting and carefully formed letters and I will treasure that along with fond memories.

My late husband and I lived next to Maxine's brother and sister in law ...Doc and Florence Dow ... for several years. That is how I met Maxine. Such a fine and lovely woman and I so enjoyed talking with her. Would run into her in Ft. Madison and Burlington and we would catch up. My condolences to her family and friends and may she rest in peace. Linda Schulz

My sympathy goes goes out to all of Maxine's family. She was such a role model for me as I was growing up. She was my mentor for choosing a medical field, and wanting to serve othrs. I recall those airmail letters she wrote to us while servining overseas. I have always looked up to her and feel a great loss now that she's no longer with us. Hopefully Bob and I can make it to her service on Thursday.

Maxine was so incredibly good for decades to my grandmother - her neighbor Celeste Hughes. And she made such a positive mark on Fort Madison!
I pray you find peace and comfort in your fond memories of her.
