Memories & Candles
My most sincere condolences to the entire Steinhauer family. I met Bernie, Joan Bernie Jr Denise and Arnold when I lived in Connecticut in 1965-1967. So many great memories of spending many Saturday afternoons and evenings with the Steinhauer family. One of my favorite memories was playing the old card game Milles Borne with Bernie and Joan. A really great couple and beautiful family. I am so very sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences.
I will forever remember Bernie's professionalism, outstanding personality, good nature and thoughtful acts of kindness to others.
We were submarine shipmates 1963 thru 65.

I also served on the USS Abraham Lincoln SSBN 602 with Bernie while stationed in Groton CT though the 60's. I was a young Sailor reporting to my first Nuclear Power Submarine and Bernie was my M Div Chief (LPO). He taught me everything I knew about operating a submarine, and became a father image to many of us young men working under him. During inport (off crew) times her and Joan would have Division get togethers so that we would all become "FAMILY". He was a great man and will be missed by so many. "Sailor Rest Your Oars"

I served on the USS Abraham Lincoln SSBN 602 with Bernie while stationed in Groton CT. Bernies wife Joan and my wife Barb became great friends and of course Bernie and I became great friends too. I will always remember when I was Diving Officer(in control of depth and steering) on watch and Bernie was back in maneuvering standing his nuke watch. We were in the North Sea and I was having trouble maintaining depth control and we brooched. The

I always recall Bernard mentioning how he had a role in the movie "Run Silent, Run Deep" that starred Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster. When we would talk about that movie and his "acting days'", I would always tell him he should have won an Oscar for best supporting actor! We would both get a laugh out of that. Rest in peace...
