Mr. Robert Buck Stevenson Obituary

BALLENTINE - Funeral service for Robert Oran “Buck” Stevenson, 92, will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.
Mr. Stevenson, husband of the late Bonnie Ballentine Stevenson, died Friday, June 19, 2009. Born in Lexington County, S.C., he was a son of the late Govan and Addie Lucas Stevenson. Mr. Stevenson was married for 69 years to Bonnie prior to her death in May 2009. They met Friday, September 13, 1935, and were married five years later on Friday, September 13, 1940. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Carlisle Military School and a Navy veteran of WWII, having served on an Underwater Demolition Team. Mr. Stevenson worked as a sergeant with the highway patrol before joining the Interstate Commerce Commission, where he was a safety inspector. He was a former Past Master of Boylston Masonic Lodge of Ballentine and a member of Mid Carolina’s Lion Club
Surviving are two half brothers, Alan Spence and Sam Stevenson; one half sister, Anne Clement; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Smith; half brother, Floyd Spence; brothers; other half brothers.
