Raymond Benedict Dettlaff Obituary

Most of my memories of Dad are those of a young child. I vividly remember going out on a lake in a motorboat when we lived in Florida. Dad allowed me to "drive" the boat. (He had the rudder and I had the wheel.) I felt like such a big girl. I think I was three or four. He had two-seater sports car in a shade of red so bright it made me squint to look at it. :-) I

(He had the rudder and I had the wheel.) I felt like such a big girl. I think I was three or four. He had two-seater sports car in a shade of red so bright it made me squint to look at it. :-) I remember his love of fishing and my absolute distaste of the bait he used. I remember his work on the Saturn V rocket and how cool it was to see the lift-off of one of the early flights.

When I was ten, Nadine and I stayed with him and Pat at their home in New Hampshire for about two weeks. We played with Rose Lea and met baby Kathy. During our visit, my grandmother (my mother's mother) died back in New Jersey, a sad ending to the visit.

Raymond Dettlaff had 4 children Nadine, Leaha, Kathleen, Raymond and Step Daughter Rose Lea. He really enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with his hands. Dad loved soup, made lots of it. He had a good personality, he liked to laugh.
