The Holmes-Patterson Family (Maple Ave. neighbors) extends condolences to the King Family. Words cannot express what Doc has meant to us and our community. He represented and served this community and our country with honor, dignity and grace. Colin Powell quoted; If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude. Colin Powell wrote it however, General John Q Taylor King Sr. lived it to his very Core! We Salute You! Calvin & Jacque

Dr. King provided oversight to a DOD grant project at NASA-JSC where I was employed. He was a noble person of distinction and was revered by those of us working on the project. He leaves a lasting legacy. Your loss is the world's loss. May God keep you in the comfort of His arms in your time of bereavement.

I came to know LTG King when was already a general officer and I was an young Army officer. He always treated me with respect and I learned much from him. Later in life I learned of his great involvement with higher education, the United Methodist Church and business. He was a giant in all his endeavors and will be truly missed for his leadership in so many fields.
