Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Lillian by adding your memories and photos.

Lillian "Jill" Rossiter Kershaw Buckley, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, entered peacefully into eternal rest Friday, May 29, 2015 surrounded by her family. Her Funeral Service will be held on June 6, 2015 in St. Andrews - Mt. Pleasant (Historic) Church, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC.

Jill was born April 9, 1931 in Lower Merion, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Isaac Kershaw, Jr. and Alice Rossiter Kershaw of Bala Cynwyd, PA. She attended Lower Merion public schools and obtained her nurse's certificate from Presbyterian Hospital. In 1950, she married her first love, Earle A. Buckley, Jr. in St. Asaph's Church, Bala Cynwyd, PA. In 1998, she retired as a surgical nurse from Bryn Mawr Hospital after spending 17 years as a homemaker raising three children. She enjoyed gardening, watching bluebirds, sewing, needlepoint, and playing cards. In her earlier years she loved playing in a bridge club, and after moving to Mt. Pleasant, she found herself regularly playing canasta with close friends. For more than 40 years, she donated her time to serving on various church altar guilds: first for St. Asaph's, then Good Samaritan in Paoli, PA, and following her retirement, she served at St. Andrew's in Mount Pleasant, S.C.

She is survived by her two sons, Earle "Chip" A. Buckley, III of Lancaster, PA, Russell D. Buckley of West Chester, PA; four grandchildren, Jessie Cobb (Matthew) of Greenville, SC, Lindsay F. McGee (Justin) of Charleston, SC, Josh Buckley of Exton, PA, Rachel Buckley of Exton, PA; an ex-daughter-in-law, Tracy Buckley of Exton, PA; son-in-law, Kenneth Foreback of Murrells Inlet, SC; one great-grandson, Charles McGee, who brought great joy to her in her final months. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Kershaw Buckley Foreback, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Jill and I worshipped at Good Samaritan together, and we were in daily contact when she scheduled surgery for Bryn Mawr Hospital OR. My husband and I visited her a couple of times after she moved to Mount Pleasant and we treasure a sweetgrass basket that she gave us. So sorry to learn that she is no longer with us, but thankful that she knew the Lord with whom she now abides.

I didn't have the priveledge of knowing Jill for a long time; however, she always had a smile and her positivity and warmth endeared her to me instantly. From everything I have heard she was a wonderful grandmother and friend to many. She knew and served the Lord and we can be asssured she will be with Him for all eternity. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time.
