My Bruggeman was my French teacher. He was my sister's French teacher too. I hated French, but loved Mr. Bruggeman. Sometime, people tell you something that you never forget in life. I remember being in his French class with my adopted sister Susan Bradshaw and Mr. Bruggeman told us this prophetic and quite accurate comment:

"The qualities and things that you hate most and are most prejudiced about in others, are truly the things you cannot stand about yourself."

I never forgot this message and even wrote it down at the time in my high school notebook...which I still have tucked away. I found that what Mr. Bruggeman said was really true...and has been proven throughout my life.

French class was fun because he made you become interested in France. We watched movies that to this day were some of the best times in high school looking back...learning about history and France. I hated French, but I loved Mr. Bruggeman and his French class.

I was lucky to run into Mr. Bruggeman in the late 1990's at Sinclair when we both were in a tennis class together. I got to play tennis with him a few times and it was great to see him again. He always made you feel special...for he was so very special a person who touched so many.

God be with him till we meet again.

I was fortunate to have Mr. Bruggeman for two years as my Latin teacher and four years as my French teacher. His love of language was evident to his students as he was so eager to share his knowledge, whether in the official curriculum or not. So, we read Winnie the Pooh (Winnie Ille Pu) in Latin, studied Greek root words, read Paris Match, and enjoyed Boeuf Bourguignon (prepared by Mme. Bruggeman), complete with a sip of real French wine, in a French class picnic.

So much of what he taught us resonates with me to this day and I thank him for his wisdom and knowledge and patient teaching.

Requiescat in pace.

Mr. Bruggeman was a kind, happy, loving man. He was always meeting me with a smile and a big hug.
His kind heart was welcoming to all he was around. He loved life and he loved his family and friends. I am thankful for all the years he shared his life with us.
Thoughts and prayers go out to his family as he will be greatly missed.
The heaven's welcomed another angel upon his arrival.

Cathy & Greg, & Family,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know your pain all too well myself, cause we lost my Dad 6 yrs ago on this coming Nov 15th. Yes it is a very rough thing to go through, but knowing in our hearts our Dads are still watching over us from above helps me get through the rough times.

And just enjoying all the memories brings a smile, & sometimes a laugh too.

Love to all,
Retta Ott
