Tribute & Message From The Family

Thomas A."Tom" Neupert, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at his home in Bristol. He was born March 1, 1929 in Montgomery, IL, the son of Fred and Sadie Claire (Albright) Neupert. Following graduation from East Aurora High School with the class of 1947, of which he was president; Tom went to work for Layne Western Company in Aurora. He was with Layne for 53 years, starting as a driller's helper, then a driller, field superintendent, and finally down-well sonar and video technician, retiring in 2000. He married Ellen Hoyt, daughter of Howard and Florence (Hoover) Hoyt, August 21, 1954. His love of fishing and keeping his yard and flower beds to a state of near-perfection were matched by his loyalty to the White Sox and the Green Bay Packers. Loving and devoted to all family members, Tom was also a great friend and neighbor. His sense of humor and ready smile will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include Ellen, his wife of 63 years; daughter Beth (Dennis) Risk and their granddaughter Ashley of Sandwich; son Kurt and his children, Karlie, Melayna, Deannah and Corey of Florence, SC and his son Joshua (Evonne) and their son Caden of Charles City, Iowa; daughter Barbara (Tim) Olin of Sugar Grove; and son Kenneth (Rosie) and their children Thomas and Anastasia of Texas; his brother Dan (Jean) of Oswego and his sister Margaret (Paul, deceased) Coil of Cumberland, WI; a very special niece, Sally (Chuck) Robinson of Minooka; plus numerous other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Paul (Ruth), Fred (Viola), and Charles (Arlene); his sisters-in-law Marjorie (Gordon) Hewitt and Elizabeth (Philip) Skeba.

Special thanks to the staff and volunteers of Northwestern Medicine Hospice DeKalb and most especially nurses Cindy, Linda, Ashley and Laura for their loving care of Tom and support for his caregivers Beth, Barb and Ellen for the past year.

A celebration of Tom's life, a time for remembering, sharing and praise, will be held Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel on the Green, 107 W. Center St., Yorkville. Memorials in Tom's name may be made to Northwestern Medicine Hospice DeKalb, 2727 Sycamore Road, Suite 1B, DeKalb, IL 60115, or a charity of your choice.
