Tribute & Message From The Family

Edmund Lasecki, Jr., 79, of Big Rock, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017. He was born on December 11, 1937 in Stevens Point, WI, the son of Edmund and Mary Ann (Firkus) Lasecki, Sr.

Edmund attended Stevens Point schools and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1961. After his discharge from the Navy, he was employed as an Air Traffic Controller for 39 years for the Federal Aviation Agency in Farmington, MN and Aurora, IL. He married Marilyn A. Palicki in Milwaukee, WI on June 22, 1963.

Ed enjoyed fly fishing and tying flies. He played some hockey and baseball in his younger years and loved to ride motorcycles with his son, but his real love was racquet type sports. He started with handball, but progressed to racquetball, tennis and pickleball. Every day of his married life he worked out either in an outside health club or his home gym. Despite his many health trials over the years, he always tried to keep on moving!

Survivors include his wife; his daughter, Michelle (John) Carbone of Shorewood, IL; his son, Matthew E. Lasecki of San Dimas, CA; his granddaughters, Kristin and Samantha Carbone; his sisters, Mary (Fred) Phillips of Waukegan, IL, Carol (Jerry) Jackson of Lakeland, FL, Corrine (Robert) Clendenning of Plover, WI and Sandra Lasecke, SSJ of Stevens Point, WI and his sister-in-law, Eileen (Mark) Cantwell of Milwaukee, WI.

Edmund was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Bonnie (William) Clendenning.

The family will receive friends at 11 A.M. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at English Congregational Church, 301 Rhodes St., Big Rock, IL 60511. A memorial service will follow at 12 P.M. Private interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.

Memorials may be directed to The Living Well Cancer Resource Center, 442 Williamsburg Avenue, Geneva, IL 60134 or to the church.

Our deepest sympathy to the whole family. The Laseckis lived in our back yard. Ed on 5th Ave and we on Bukolt. The last time I saw Ed was many years ago at the Cultural Fest in Stevens Point. The childhood memory I have is going to the Northside Grocery together (2 blocks away) and each buying a pint of ice cream ($0.25) and eating the whole thing on his back door steps.
