Tribute & Message From The Family

James R. Fensterer, 56, of Arkville died Monday January 1, 2018 at the Albany Medical Center. He was born June 26, 1961 in Huntington Long Island, son of Kenneth and Dolores (nee) Kreischer Fensterer. Jim had been a twenty year resident of the Catskill Mountains, having formerly made his home in Long Island. He had previously been employed at D & B Engineering in Woodbury, and was currently a Project Manager for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection in the Margaretville office. Jim was a skilled woodworker, who could do everything from rough house framing, to detailed finishing on home furniture. There always seemed to be a home-project that he could be working on. More importantly, he was devoted to his family with all of his heart.
Surviving are his parents Kenneth and Dolores Fensterer, his fiancee Laurissa Tilp, two daughters: Olivia Fensterer and Corinne Brady, two sons: James, and Michael, two brothers: Keith Fensterer and his wife Christine Fabriziano, Brian and his wife Sheree Fensterer, a sister: Laurie and her husband Eddie Giannelli and two granddaughters: Aria and Leticia Fensterer as well as his four-legged buddy 'Teddy'.

His funeral procession will form on Saturday at 9:30am at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia, thence to the St. Francis de Sales Church where at 10 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Raphael Iannone Cap. OFM. Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home. You may share a special memory with the family on Jim's memorial page at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com The family suggests contributions in Jim's memory may be made to the American Heart Association at https://donatenow.heart.org/

Dear Jim and the Fensterer family, it saddens my heart to hear of the passing of James. Although we haven't seen each other in years, I still recall our time together in high school, playing football and especially playing out trombones. You were a great person and I was honored to know you during high school and to be a friend of yours. God bless you all during this difficult time. I am so very sorry.

What fun we had as kids , I often thought of Jimmy and his family over years and had hoped to see him again . He was always up for an adventure weather it was exploration of the Back Woods or an Adirondack mountain of lake He was not only in he was ahead. We had good families , great neighborhood and the freedom of growing up in the 1970s. He was one of my best childhood friends . I have always missed him now I will mourn him and a cherished piece of our share histories . Troop 214 and opal court will never be the same .
