Condolence & Memory Journal

I grow up listening to the narrations that Mr Campanella made for National Geographic, to name just 1. I can't put my finger on it, but for the largest no my whole preteen and teenage years I never missed him, not even my house catching fire, stopped me for viewing his work (or listening) even though we only had 2 channels total for television, I manage to see him almost weekly. just something about this mans voice.
He just had to speak. God help us fill this cassium left in us all. Heal the families sarro and grant them fill them with joy that he has been called to his next great and wondrous adventure! Good Bye Sir! and THANK You!!!

Joe and family are in Gods hands. I remember 1945 when Joe and Phil came back from WWII. He picked me and held me high. For the next 15 years our families were always together. I would ask Joe about which service to join with the coming draft. Navy it was without hesitation. He supported me in rise from seaman to Rear Admiral. Welcomed me in Malibu in 1966 where Jill and he were spending time. Attended my change of commands and other events. Always proud he was my cousin. Frank, Frieda, Phil are their to welcome him. Two weeks ago I lost my BGCdr. I had a premonition I should call Joe. Although I missed the chance I know its Gods way. Our love is always there for all the Campanellas.

My husband delivered Arrowhead water to Joe and Jill back in the 70's and Joe became my oldest son's little league coach one year.
I remember the first time he called our home to say his team had chosen Bill. He said, "Hello, this is Joe Campanella and our team has selected Bill to be part of our team." There was no way you could not recognize his distinctive voice, and I remember stuttering "thank you so much for calling Mr Campanella", to which he laughed softly saying "none of that, it's either Joe or coach". I remember thinking there was no way I could bring myself to just talk to him and call him Joe. Over the next year we were lucky enough to get to know both Joe and Jill along with his sons. My son played with Robbie and Joey. As great as an actor and coach he was, he was an even better individual in life. When my husband and I moved to our first home in Ontario, we lost contact with them, but the memories of that one special year will always remain dear to us. RIP Joe, and may the Lord give strength and love to Jill and your family during this difficult time. We will always remember you.
