Ruth B. Walker (nee Bender), 96, of Cape May, NJ, formerly of Lansdowne, PA, Aldan, PA and Ocean View, NJ, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2018.

Widow of Howard R. Walker, Jr. (Howdy). Ruth was the daughter of the late Blanche (nee Witig) and Edwin Bender. She was the mother of the late Janet
Marino. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. A graduate of West Philadelphia High School, Philadelphia Business School. Retired from Swarthmore College in 1984 after working 25 years in the Personnel & Purchasing Office. She had a love for music and studied voice at Harris Music School during her high school years. She was the recipient of several music awards and became a soloist for WHAT Radio in Philadelphia in the late 1930's. She was also a soloist for weddings and sang in the church choir.

Ruth was a Brownie Leader for Trop 628 in Aldan. Volunteered at Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Drexel Hill, PA and Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, NJ. She and her husband were founding members of Aldan Townwatch. Together with her husband, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and The Special Olympics in Sea Isle City, NJ. Together they were Youth Advisors at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Secane, PA and St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Springfield, PA.

Survivors. Daughter Carole W. Burke (Ray) of Cape May, NJ and Venice, FL. Four grandchildren, Scott Burke (Liesl), Kevin Burke, Audra Behrle (Ed), Gary Marino (Kimmy). Five great grandchildren, Emily & Megan Burke, Cayla, Jacob and Logan Behrle.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on December 15, 2018 at Church of the Advent, 686 Washington Street, Cape May, NJ. Interment Private.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Canine Companions for Independence, Southeast Region, 8150 Clarcona Ocoee Road, Orlando, FL 32818
