I had the privilege to work with John for almost a year. He was kind hearted. He would get so excited telling stories of chess club and talked about inquiring about helping the club in his spare time. I can't imagine the heartbreak his family and friends are feeling. He was a wonderful son, brother and friend.

I went to high school with John and we shared a lot of classes, but I have the most memories of him in my senior Calculus class. That class was so challenging and often frustrating, but I never saw John without a smile. He was one of the most genuine people I've ever met. Many high schoolers are preoccupied with being viewed a certain way, but John never acted superior to anyone and he always had something positive to say. I've never met someone positive about Calculus- but John managed it somehow. I am absolutely heartbroken that we've lost such a kind, funny, and wonderful person.

I was John's Chess Coach....I will remember John as an extremely kind person. never a negative word, no matter the situation. He was an extremely creative chess player which was indicative of the kind of thinker he was ,I do not think I can remember a time when John was not smiling....and that is how I will remember him.

I am so so sorry for your loss. My boys grew up in the same neighborhood and were friends with John. They remember him fondly. I can't begin to imagine the pain and grief you are going through, but I will be praying for the family.

I was a classmate/friend of John. We had study hall and history together. I remember him always taking naps in study hall. I photographed him one time because I found it silly that he was always sleeping across from our friend Keillor who was also always napping. I remember his jokes, and how he would poke me on facebook as a competition. He won... I will keep John in my memory forever. He was a big part of my high school days. My heart goes out to his family. I'm so sorry for your loss.
