Dad, I'm not sure how to move forward without you. I will miss everything about you. You and mom are my best friends and you are the ones I call when something good or bad happens. Your laugh and easy smile are present in your grandsons and they will carry your legacy on. Love you forever, Punkin

Very sad for the loss of Uncle Rick. I have many memories of him growing up, from playing kick the ice on Rush Lake for hours, to his famous Tee- Tee-Tee-Caw-Caw call he would do to prevent the rain when we were at the lake, worked every time. He was always happy, and could make you laugh. To Aunt Deb, Ryan and Jason, I am so sorry for the sadness, and pain you are going through. He was as Dan put it, "one of the great ones." much love, Julie Phelps

To Deb, Betsy, Larry and Billy, so sorry to hear about Rick. I have so many memories with Mary Beth, Lisa and I walking the beach and he'd have some comment about how we were looking for trouble; he cheated at spoons while playing on the porch and he was always smiling.

I just heard the news from my father. My condolences to the Lenard family and my sincerest apologies that I cannot make it to the services. I have the fondest memories of the Lenard clan in Port Austin when Drew Mulder and I would spend all day trying to get boat rides with anyone who would take us. And of course the Lenard boat was the most fun. Will miss ya, Rick. Rest in peace.

Words cannot express how sad I feel today. Rick was always so upbeat and happy to see everyone. We will miss him each day, but remember the years of great times and memories. Rick was the other half of my best friend and will never be forgotten

In the Fall I would walk to the beach and look for Rick's and Sofie's foot prints to see if they had walked by yet? They weren't hard to find not many people walk the beach in the Fall. If there were no tracks maybe they hadn't walked by yet? Perhaps they were just washed away by the gentle waves? I don't know that I will stop looking!!! Love You More My Friend!!!!

Words can simply not express the sadness that our entire family feels at this time. We have lost a dear friend, neighbor, and simply just a great example of what a good man represents. Rick has been our dear neighbor in Port Austin for over 20 years, and we will treasure the memories in our family forever. Rick's laugh was unmistakable, and you could count on that smile even when things got tough. He was always there to help with a problem, whatever it was, and was more than happy to share a story or a beer with his many friends and neighbors. He will be dearly missed.

The best dad there ever was. He enjoyed and appreciated the simple things in life deer tracks in the woods, a Bud Light and of course, Lake Huron sunsets.

As he approaches those pearly gates, I hope he signals his arrival with one ping only.

A great man once said all he needed was a little bit of time and a few kind words. To my brother who was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend there is not another person I know that could fill his shoes. We shall miss you deeply. I loved beating you in cribbage but would sacrifice ever winning again to see you again.

Rick and the Lenard family were fun summertime friends in Huron Dunes. The 40 hp Johnson was just enough for good slalom skiing. To the Lenard family left behind: Please celebrate the great times you shared with Rick. He was a good friend for a chapter of my life, and I'm sure a great part of bigger portions of yours. See you soon, Rick!

I was honored to have a friend who was more of a brother. Someone who I could count on to be there when I needed him to be, and Ric always was. We shared many special days on the water searching for walleyes and many hours in the woods searching for our golf balls. Just being with someone so relaxed about life and how to enjoy it was contagious. I've never met anyone in the over 60 years I"ve known him that had a bad word to say about him. My family and myself will cherish his memory forever.

This obituary is nice, but Rick was so much more. He was the love of my life since we were 16 years old. We grew up together, experienced joyful times, hard times and very, very sad times. Neither one of us was perfect but we were ok with that. There wasn't anyone who didn't like Rick, he just had such a great personality and infectious laugh. We laughed together every day, even after the cancer diagnosis. We made a decision to be happy every day and we were. He was my life, my light and I was so proud to be his wife.
