Tribute & Message From The Family

Lou Ann Hopkins, 85, went to be with her Savior March 15, 2020 after a short illness. She leaves three sons and their wives: John M. and Dawn of Fort Wayne IN and Ponte Vedra Beach FL; Keller and Joann of Georgetown DE; and Eaton and Rebecca of Honey Brook PA. In addition, she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her brother, Jack Parker and his wife Lorrie of Virginia Beach, VA.

She attended Goldey-Beacom College and married John Hopkins in 1956. She and her husband founded Comfort, Inc., a mechanical contracting business that served the Delmarva Peninsula for 25 years. They were affiliated with various Christian organizations, including being charter members of the original group who established WOLC, a Christian radio station on the Eastern Shore. For many years, she enjoyed hosting dinners, Bible studies, weddings, and prayer groups for their church, Family Ministries, at their home, Peaceful Acres in Bridgeville, DE.

She shared her love for music playing piano, harp, guitar and as a vocalist. She also enjoyed directing children's choirs in the Bridgeville area. In retirement, they enjoyed sailing "Morning Star" throughout the Virgin Islands. It was their pleasure to have shared many times aboard with friends and relatives.

Since her husband's passing in 2007, Lou Ann has resided in Sarasota, FL. She attended The Tabernacle Church and enjoyed supporting and serving Solve Maternity Homes. Her friends and family were blessed by her gift of hospitality for many years.

Due to the CDC restrictions on gatherings, a Celebration of Life service will be announced in the future.

Condolence & Memory Journal

She was an amazing influence on my life in my late teens. I have treasured my memories of her over the years. I wish I could have talked to her one more time. However, I am so happy she is with her Lord and Savior in heaven.

Lou Ann was a faithful partner in our ministry through Youth for Christ. I was blessed by her words of encouragement through the years. God used her to help bring many young people to faith in Christ. I am thankful to know that she is receiving her reward even now. My prayers are with your family.

Hopkins family, So sad to hear of Lou Anns passing as she truly was a hero to me but I celebrate with you your precious mothers passage into heaven to be with her Lord and Savior and with loved ones who have passed on. In my eyes there have been no finer people on earth than your parents. Listening to Lou Ann singing was like listening to an angel because she was so close to the Lord in that moment. Harold and I thanked God continually for Harolds employment at Comfort. Your parents marriage was such a model for the world to see. I know for me one thing that I admired most in Lou Ann was her fierce protection of her Sweetheart. She definitely was the hostess with the mostest at her precious Peaceful Acres. I cherish many precious memories of times at Peaceful Acres, Family Ministries, Manager Meetings, and Hashawha.
I hope the Hopkins Families are well and safe. If Harold was with me, he would agree that we are so grateful for knowing John and Lou Ann
And the Hopkins family. Love you all. May God Comfort You.

When we moved to Bridgeville many years ago, LouAnn and John welcomed us with open loving arms. LouAnn was Beverlys first piano teacher, her first choir leader. We visited LouAnn in Sarasota once and was just going to stop by but she greeted us with a wonderfully delicious brunch. She missed John so much but kept busy doing for others. Our condolences to John, Keller, Eaton and their families. May your sweet memories and assurance that she is with Jesus bring you peace and comfort.

She was so gracious when Prism (impromptu) sang at her house. What a lovely lady. I know this is a great loss; but, wow, soon an even greater reunion. Pray for you guys!
