Condolence & Memory Journal

Martha and family, Your Dad was a kind and sweet person. I met him years ago at one of Gabby's birthday party in your yard when our kids were pre-school age. After that party, I would occasionally bump into your Dad on the Metro North train and he always remembered me. Our conversations were often brief but always engaging. One time, when I was job hunting, he offered to pass along my resume to people he thought might be able to help me. He gave me his business card and was very encouraging about my future job prospects. It was a very generous gesture and I cherish that moment. My condolences to your entire family. Your Dad was a truly special person.

What a wonderful man and father he must have been to have raised a daughter like Martha Hood! My thoughts are with the family- especially Martha and Gabby during this trying time.

Alex was one of my mother (and her sisters') oldest friends. They were young in NYC together--and the friendship spanned a half a century. Alex was the best listener, always the the kindest grown-up in the room, and the guy who always showed up, driving great distances to mark a special anniversary or, when the time came, a funeral. He represents the best of his generation marked by love of family, God and country. I'm glad he's safely home. He may have left us behind, but we are better for his being here. Condolences to his family.

The Brintle Family is so very sorry to hear of the passing of "Uncle Alex". He was a giant for Brintle brothers; a man to be admired and modeled. Alex's care and generosity to our family will never be forgotten. We send our most sincere prayers to Young Alex, Teddy, Martha, Daniel and the entire Hood Family. With all our love and affection Tom, Joe, Sam, Patricia and Ashley Brintle
