Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Maria by adding your memories and photos for all of us to share. This tribute page will remain open for years of future remembrance.

Maria Theresa McDade, 56, of Jupiter, FL passed away July 27, 2020 after battling a lengthy illness. Maria was born on October 3, 1963 to parents Robert and Charlotte Yellets of Conshohocken, PA. Early on she moved to Rahns, PA, where she graduated from Perkiomen Valley High School Class of 1981. She married Scott McDade in 1982 and had son Christopher later that year. Maria is survived by husband Scott McDade of Jupiter, FL, son Christopher McDade of South Lake Tahoe, CA, mother Charlotte Yellets of Jupiter, FL, sister Melissa Forshee of South Coatesville, PA, mother-in-law Patricia McDade of Blandon, PA, and sister/brother-in-laws Ann and Eric Knauer of Blandon, PA and Susan and Chris Hewitt of York, PA, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Yellets, father-in-law Michael McDade, Sr., brother-in-law Michael McDade, Jr., and her cherished Yorkshire terrier, Corbin. Maria will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Maria worked at CertainTeed in Pennsylvania for numerous years where she made many lifelong friendships. After moving to Florida in 1993, she worked in office management and accounting for 20 years until retiring to spend more time enjoying her many hobbies and caring for her mother and aunt. Maria loved and excelled at crafts of all kinds, and was especially skilled in quilting and sewing. Her handmade Christmas stockings and meticulously detailed, highly-personalized quilts are treasured heirlooms among all of her family members. More recently, she took up cycling, a lifelong passion of her son's, and enjoyed near daily rides exploring the backwaters of South Florida. Maria was also fond of auto racing throughout her life, and was in regular attendance at numerous marquee events across the country, including the 12 Hours of Sebring, the Indianapolis 500, and the Daytona 500 and 24 Hours.

Maria loved the ocean and was an avid fisherman and boater, once landing two sailfish in a single day. She appreciated wildlife of all kinds, and black bears, in particular, were her favorite. She loved to travel with her husband and spend time in the mountains. Great Smoky Mountain National Park was one of her favorite places on Earth. Maria and her husband were especially passionate about exploring the country via motorcycle. They traversed most of the East Coast from Niagara Falls to Key West, and every mile of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive several times.

Maria's greatest joy was her family. Their happiness was always her number one priority, and she lived to care for and nurture the ones she loved. Later in life she had a particular soft spot in her heart for her young nephew Cooper and his baby sister Vinnie, and she took great joy in following their daily antics. She will forever be remembered as selfless, generous, empathetic, and kind. Maria was a rare truly genuine person, who loved to laugh and never took herself too seriously. Her sweet and lighthearted demeanor immediately endeared her to all who met her.

After a long and arduous struggle with sickness, her family takes solace that she is at peace and no longer in pain. They know that little Corbin will be the first to greet her in heaven, with endless kisses and wagging tail.

Due to current restrictions on gathering, a private family ceremony was held to honor her memory. A celebration of her life will be held in the future for her many friends and family. Maria's wish was to have her and Scott's ashes combined at a later date and released at a place close to their hearts.

Condolence & Memory Journal

What a beautiful description of Maria's life. I graduated HS with her, and although had not seen her since, we were Facebook friends and reconnected. It made my heart feel good to see what a wonderful , happy life she had. My deepest sympathies to her husband, son, and the entire family ❤

Family Album

Grandma McDade's 80th Birthday 2018.
All together in Pennsylvania 2014. Chris's favorite picture of the family, everyone was laughing and smiling naturally.
Chris's college graduation, 2005.
Chris's high school graduation, 2001.
Chris's quilt in 2002. He thought it'd be funny to make her give the finger for the photo and this is probably his favorite photo of her! He still feels kinda bad 20 years later he asked for such an excessively complicated design, but she was adamant he only get "one per lifetime."
Jupiter 2014. Chris has been obsessed with bikes since he could walk, so he was overjoyed when Maria got into it later in life. He loved talking to her about her rides and how good they made her feel. He really treasured getting to ride with her on visits home. He told her to "look hard" for this one and it is one of his favorites of her.

Family Album

One of Chris's favorite memories with his Mom in the more recent past occurred shortly before this was taken. A momentary lapse of attention while talking to him over her shoulder put her off the side of the path and down a 15 ft embankment towards one of South Florida's many murky, alligator-infested drainage canals. She came to a stop a foot short of the water. Chris braced for the worst, but she just let out one of her trademark snorting laughs, walked back up the embankment, and continued riding like nothing happened.
Christmas 2008, watching Corbin open his presents smiling ear to ear.
Pennsylvania 2018 with Vinnie and Walter.
May 2014. Off to the next adventure from Ann and Eric's house in Pennsylvania. This is one of Chris's favorite pictures, because "sassy Mom!"
Jupiter 2012. Another of Chris's favorites. Maria waiting patiently while Chris climbed Jupiter's landmark lighthouse, because she was afraid of heights!
Jupiter 2014, giving Corbin a bath. One of Chris's favorites. He often joked he was replaced by a six pound Yorkshire terrier when he left for college, because his Mother needed someone else to dote on. Maria lived to care for others and she absolutely adored little Corbs.
