Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. PLEASE, PLEASE enhance this tribute to Jean by adding your memories and photos.

On September 6, 2020, Jean Noennick passed away at Stanford Hospital with her husband Gil and daughter Ashley by her side, holding her hands as she took her final breath.

Jean was born in Wilmington, NC on May 10, 1950 to parents Jean and William Strattan ( both deceased). She grew up in Millbrae, CA where she graduated from Capuchino High School and later attended the College of San Mateo. Jean was a resident of San Jose, CA for 43 years before moving to Discovery Bay, CA in 2016 to be closer to her daughter and family.

Jean worked in commercial real estate sales and marketing at Colliers International located in San Jose, CA for over 35 years until she retired in 2013. She became a grandmother for the first time in 2015 (Jackson) and again in 2018 to twins (Logan and Wyatt). In Jean's earlier years she loved water skiing, snow skiing, and creating stained glass. More recently, she enjoyed taking long walks, quilting, sewing, baking and spending time with her grandsons.

Jean bravely battled, and beat, her first cancer diagnosis in 2011 (Multiple Myeloma). Then in early 2019 Jean had to battle a second round of cancer brought on by the chemo treatment from the first. She was lucky enough to receive a bone marrow transplant in September 2019 and got to come home just in time to spend Christmas with her family that year. That amazing Christmas was spent baking cookies and dancing in the kitchen with her grandsons while singing along to Christmas songs. We will forever cherish this as our "bonus" Christmas with her!

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 49 years Gil Noennick, their daughter Ashley (Noennick) Marcelino, son-in-law Kyle Marcelino, three wonderful grandsons Jackson, Logan and Wyatt (the bright lights in Nana Jean's life), brother Gaar Strattan, Step-Mother Janis Strattan, and step-siblings Ginger Power (Pierce), Steven Hubbard (Kristy), and David Hubbard (Yasmin).

*Due to the current environment, we will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date, yet to be determined, once restrictions have been lifted*

***In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to one of the 2 charities we have chosen. "American Cancer Society" or "Leukemia & Lymphoma Society"
Thank you in advance.***

Condolence & Memory Journal

I became Jean's sister when we were teenagers. My mom married Jean's dad. It was so fun being part of her family. One summer Jean sewed for me the "hippest" dress. It was long, tapestry material...a sign of the times. I loved it!
This time of year I often remember festive and welcoming Christmas parties at Jean and Gil's. Those family celebrations are cherished.
My mom loves Jean, Gil, Ash and family. She always looked forward to their visits. One Murphy's visit Jean gifted our mom a Very Cool Cat. A great addition to the family.
I'm inspired by Jean. She is smart, thoughtful, and compassionate. She will always be with me.

Gil & Ashley - Just wanted to say hello and let you know and realize that we (myself & Bonnie) have been thinking about you guys for the last few months. It sadden me (to tears) as we try and comprehend that Jean has left us all, yet she lives on in the memories that she bestowed upon each and everyone she knew, family, friends, colleagues etc... Bonnie & I will always cherish the times you guys/we sent together, be it on the Delta, Snow Skiing, Hawaii, Cruise's, Camping, Partying at your house, being at your cabin in the mountains or just getting together and socialize. We did alot, you guys always include/shared your family and friends, along to way, with us. You guys let us include our beloved German Shepard, Jasmine, at times when we would go to your cabin, these are memories that just don't/won't fade.
I always admired Jean for her cooking skills, her ability to make a Fancy Meal or whip up something quick and easy. As I like to cook to, my best is just trying to my toast burnt just right. So many things Jean could and would do for others too!
Bonnie & I wish we could somehow reach out and give you all a "BIG HUG", hopefully sometime in the near future we will be able to. Be it known that You, Ashley and Family are in our thoughts & prayers, please be safe in these times of uncertainty.

Our Love to the "Noennick Family" always - Bonnie & Keith

Gil, Ashley & Family,

What a tremendous loss. We had a lifetime of memories together knowing each other for 40+ years. We were deep into each other's lives and I for one am going to miss my "sister from another mister" immensely. From ski boat trips, to cruises all around, to cooking, binge watching nonsense tv shows, loving your famous cookies which I very rarely got because my husband ate them before they made it home, to just laughing and enjoying each other's company. We were so impressed and in awe with your fight for life and your devotion to your grandkids who I know were the light of your life and kept your going. You will stay ever present in our hearts and minds because you will always be our friend, and now angel in heaven, for ever and a day. While we are all grieving the loss of you not being here physically, we choose to celebrate your life and the positive effect you had on every person - you were and still are the light in our lives.

Gil, Ashley & family,
Jean was one of the nicest person anyone could ever know, I will miss her smiling face, warm personality and giving so much of herself to her family especially her grand babies.
