Tribute & Message From The Family

Martha R. Anderson

Martha R. Anderson, age 73, of Broadview Heights, OH, went home to be with Jesus on October 31, 2020, after a four-year battle with cancer. Martha was born in Cleveland, OH, to Julius and Ruth Manthey. After graduating from Lutheran High School West in 1965, she spent nearly a decade working secretarial and bookkeeping jobs for Society National Bank and Suburban West Bookkeepers.

Martha's conversion to a living faith in Jesus in 1974 changed the course of her life. She attended the Association Free Lutheran Bible School in Minneapolis, MN, for two years and then married Pastor Emerson Anderson in 1977. During her husband's ministries in Cleveland, OH, and Cloquet, Floodwood, and Maplewood, MN, Martha took an active role, working especially with children and women. Her greatest joy was the raising and homeschooling of her two children.

After her husband's retirement and the family's return to Ohio, Martha spent ten years working at Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts in sales and teaching. Her lifelong passion for sewing, crocheting, and hand crafts enabled her to bless family and friends with countless gifts of love for over fifty years.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, David Manthey; and her brother-in-law, Robert Hofener. She is survived by her children, Jonathan (Abby) Anderson of Moorhead, MN, and Gracia (Michael) Johnson of Columbus, OH; her grandchildren, Anika and Eden Anderson and Andrew and Maggie Johnson; her sisters, Esther Hofener and Debra (Richard) Ball; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Broadview Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. The funeral service will be webcasted. Link to webcasting below. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to one of the following: Broadview Heights Baptist Church, designated for "children's ministries"; Abiding Word Ministries of Melbourne, FL; Open Doors USA. Martha will be laid to rest with her husband at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. 440.842.7800 www.buschcares.com

Condolence & Memory Journal

Aunt Martha, we love you and miss you! Although we grieve for a time, we don't sorrow as those who have no hope. For we know we will see you again one day in Heaven.

Aunt Martha, We will miss you, but know you are in the loving arms of Jesus now.

It was so wonderful to visit with Martha, Carol and Marie a year ago on a trip to the Cleveland area. I had brought pictures from our early years, and we laughed and shared memories about each other and our beloved parents, aunts and uncles and all the cousins unable to attend. As I left, I hugged my cousin for the last time, and I looked into her eyes and saw no sorrow. My dear cousin had an admirable faith. I saw peace and a joy in her eyes as she anticipated being in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. Oh the bliss she is in today!
