Tribute & Message From The Family

Loving Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother and Friend

Father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, husband, patriarch, he was always happy to help and be with family and friends. Honest, dependable, hardworking, wholesome, selfless, handyman, coupon king, athlete with a quick wit and wry sense of humor… his life began at the end of one pandemic and spanned to the next. Living through the Great Depression made him know the value of a dollar, accumulate "fix-it" skills and possess a "can do" attitude.

Howard was a WWII Navy veteran from July 1944 - February 1946, a proud member of the "Greatest Generation". His ship, the USS Queens was a troop transport that spent its time in the Pacific theatre: Iwo Jima, the Philippines, 4 times through Pearl Harbor, Sasebo, etc. He had WWII stories that captivated his grandkids and never grew old. He was also a Mason for more than 75 years.

Bowler, golfer, baseball, football and basketball player, Howard was a superb athlete with an unquenchable sweet tooth. Oreo cookies were part of his breakfast routine to the end. A lifelong golfer and an original member of Pine Hills GC in Hinckley Ohio, he was still playing at 99.

Pre-deceased by his wife Darlynn of 64 years in 2017, he missed her dearly, and lived with his daughter Patricia the last two years. He is survived by his sister Audrey Thiel, his daughters Linda Belock (Bob), Judy Ford (Jerry), Patricia Smith, his son Howard III (Brenda), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren!

As one of his granddaughters put it, "Words cannot describe how much he will be missed" and "… was a rock in the Reeve family".

If you wish, donations can be made in his name to Hospice of the Western Reserve in Lorain Ohio.

All services will be private.
