BALLENTINE - Funeral service for Robert Oran “Buck” Stevenson, 92, will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.
Mr. Stevenson, husband of the late Bonnie Ballentine Stevenson, died Friday, June 19, 2009. Born in Lexington County, S.C., he was a son of the late Govan and Addie Lucas Stevenson. Mr. Stevenson was married for 69 years to Bonnie prior to her death in May 2009. They met Friday, September 13, 1935, and were married five years later on Friday, September 13, 1940. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Carlisle Military School and a Navy veteran of WWII, having served on an Underwater Demolition Team. Mr. Stevenson worked as a sergeant with the highway patrol before joining the Interstate Commerce Commission, where he was a safety inspector. He was a former Past Master of Boylston Masonic Lodge of Ballentine and a member of Mid Carolina’s Lion Club
Surviving are two half brothers, Alan Spence and Sam Stevenson; one half sister, Anne Clement; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Smith; half brother, Floyd Spence; brothers; other half brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church Building Fund, 2081 Dutch Fork Road, White Rock, SC 29177.

Buck was a great man.He helped me threw alot and gave me wisdom.If he taught me anything it was to stand up for what i beleive in and never bite my tounge.I will never forget all that he has done for me and my daughter Corina.Ive never seen a man with stronger feelings for his wife.Hes a great family man.I will always remember and respect the memory of Mr.Robert(Buck)Stevenson May him and Bonnie Rest In Peace Jessiah Duncan Hoeg

My sincerest sympathy to the family and friends. I enjoyed my time spent with Mr. Stevenson, he was quite the character at times, but I felt a special connection with him. I was hoping to see him on Saturday when I returned to work, but Bonnie wanted him sooner. God bless him.
