Tribute & Message From The Family

George S. Cox, 80, retired auditor and financial analyst, passed away at Hughes Healthcare on Friday, May 24, 2013. Son of the late George and Ellen (Macklin) Cox and brother to Walter Cox of Tulsa, OK, George was born in Philadelphia, PA. He attended the University of Pennsylvania where he received a BA and played the trombone in the marching band. George then went on to receive a MBA from the acclaimed Wharton School of Business. He worked for General Dynamics, Carborundum of Niagara Falls, and Veeder-Root as a financial analyst, and lastly the City of Hartford as an auditor. George held membership in both the Internal Auditors Association and the Connecticut Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He was an avid photographer and also served in the US Air Force earning the rank of Major while serving in the reserves. He was a devoted member of Christ Church Cathedral (Episcopal) in Hartford where he volunteered with Church Street Eats and grocery delivery to the food pantry at South Church. Services are pending and will be held at a later date at Christ Church Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Church Cathedral: Church Street Eats, 45 Church, St., Hartford, CT 06103.
