Abner Franklin Teague, 98, passed away August 23, 2017.

Services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Interment to follow at I. O. O. F. Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, August 25, 2017 at Riley Funeral Home from 6-7 PM.

Abner was born May 25, 1919 in Gainesville, TX and graduated from high school in 1936. He attended Texas Tech and graduated in Chemical Engineering in 1943. While at Tech, he was both the football and basketball manager and made it into the Texas Tech Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1968 Abner got his master's degree from Southern Cal in aerospace management.

During WWII, he was initially in the Army working in a Radon lab. He represented the Signal Corps on the National Defense Committee. He worked on the proximity fuse for the atom bomb. Since not really being in the Army, Abner joined the Navy in 1944 and was sent to the California desert to work on naval ordinance testing. In civilian life, he worked under the Army Air Force in Space Technology Laboratories, as well as Civil Services in naval weapons engineering.

Abner was a 50 year Mason and a member of Rock House Lodge #417 in Hamilton. His other memberships were in Virginia-Knights Templar, Mt. Vernon Royal Arch Chapter 11, and the Commandery. For several years, he was a Silver Haired Legislator, the Hamilton Cemetery Association, and the Lions Club. He was an active member in St. Mary's Episcopal Church ACNA.

Abner is preceded in death by Cecil Dow James.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nora Katherine Henderson James Teague, whom he married June 26, 1971. Abner is also survived by his daughters, Jan Moody and Julia Younggren; son, James Abner Teague; 4 grandchildren, Michael Holloman, Sara Tabola, Phyllis Bradley, and Matthew James; and 7 great-grandchildren, Nora Holloman, Lance Tabola, Kelton James, Kollin James, Chloe Younggren, Jaxon Younggren, and Aiden Younggren.
