Addie B. Climer passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the age of 89 in San Marcos, TX. She was born on February 18, 1928 in Harwood, TX to John S. and Elizabeth Thomason McCarty. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband C.W. "Bill" Climer and siblings: Ray, Nathan, Winter and Bernice. She is survived by her Niece: Pat McCarty Tessaro (Mike) of Wimberley, TX; grandnephews: Aaron Tessaro (Jamie), Matthew Tessaro (Nicole), and Johnny Tessaro (Lacey) all of New Braunfels, TX ; and six great grand nieces and nephews; other loving family members in California and Texas; and many good friends.
Addie B. grew up in Harwood, TX in an area known as the McCarty Colony, which was settled by her ancestors. The family moved briefly to Douglas, Arizona when she was a young child and then returned to Harwood. Addie lived there till she moved to San Antonio after high school graduation to attend business school. She was a bookkeeper for various local businesses including Stowers Furniture Store and SACU. An accomplished seamstress and quilter, Addie made her own beautiful clothes and quilts. She was loved for her easy going nature, sense of humor and hard working devotion to duty. She lived for the last six years in San Marcos to be near her niece, Pat and family.
Addie was a 25 year member of the Order of the Easter Star, Wimodausis Chapter #141 in San Antonio. She served as Worthy Matron from 1996-1997 along side her husband Bill who was Worthy Patron that year. Always an active member of the Lodge, Addie held various offices over the years and participated in countless charitable activities in support of the community.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Brookdale San Marcos - South and Brookdale Hospice Care for their friendship, support, and excellent care of our beloved aunt over the years.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 6pm-8pm at Sunset Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 12pm at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial Donations in her name may be made to the Order of the Easter Star, Wimodausis Chapter #141, 10103 Evening Way, San Antonio, TX 78233.
