Adora J. Barcus, age 92, of Canton, passed away Sunday in Canton Christian Home. She was born June 8, 1919 in Salineville, Ohio, daughter to the late James T. and Olive B. (Goddard) Johnson. Adora retired in 1980 from Canton City Schools. She had been a faithful member of First Christian Church in Canton, former member of the First Christian Church Choir, Berean Sunday School Class, Woman's Missionary Society and had taught the high school girls Sunday School Class. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl T. Barcus; brother, Paul Johnson and sisters, Pearl Evans, Ruth Orwick and Wilma Morrow. Survivors include her sons, Paul (Jill) Barcus, Dale (Janet) Barcus; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brad) Mast, Tim (Jen) Barcus, Scott (Tamara) Barcus, Julie (Philip) Welden, Great grandchildren, Allison, Victoria and Alexander Barcus, Jillian & Claire Mast and sister, Marjorie Burnip of Salineville. Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11:00am in First Christian Church, 6900 Market Ave. N., Canton, Ohio 44721 with Pastor Scott Rosen officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6-8pm in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel. There will also be one hour of visitation one hour prior to the service on Friday from 10-11am in the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either First Christian Church or Canton Christian Home.
