Agnes M. "Aggie" Heineman, 90, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday May 28, 2017 surrounded by her family at Memorial Medical Center . She was born on February 14, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York to Svend and Margaret K. Hyland Nielsen. Agnes married Gerard F. Heineman on September 2, 1950 in Brooklyn and he preceded her in death on December 20, 2006.

Aggie is survived by four children: Barbara (Ray) Kopec of Springfield, Catherine (Todd) Redburn and Geraldine (Richard) Lippman both of St. Louis, and Raymond (Traci) Heineman of Houston, Texas, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one brother Joseph (Judy) Nielsen and one sister Jane Marie (Gordon "Pinky") Pinckney. She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

She was known for her quick wit and sense of humor and didn't know a stranger. Aggie had worked and volunteered in many ways including helping her friend operate a flower shop while living in Georgia but her primary focus was raising her family at home. She enjoyed traveling the United States with her family. Her hobbies included needlework, and reading. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, St. Louise De Marillac Society, the Tuesday Morning Kneedle Work Club and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

A funeral mass in remembrance of both Agnes and her beloved husband Gerard will be held at 11:00am on Friday June 9, 2017 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The family will meet friends one hour prior to mass at The Cathedral. Following the funeral mass Agnes and Gerard will both be laid to rest at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
