Mrs. Agnes Marie Permenter passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at her home in Nacogdoches County, Texas, with family by her side. Mrs. Permenter was 92 years old.

Born Agnes Marie Gibbs on March 4, 1925, in Montgomery, Texas, she was the daughter of Guy Minor Gibbs and Stella Marie (Duncan) Gibbs. She married Alvie Permenter on July 12, 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvie; brothers, Thomas, Edward and Clinton Gibbs; two sons, Joe E. Permenter and Alvie Permenter Jr.; a daughter, Janice Janell Teague; a stepdaughter, Mary Ellen Johnson; and a grandson, Jimmie Armstrong Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Armstrong (husband, Jimmie), and two sons, Bruce Eugene Permenter (wife, Wanda), all of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Jerry Permenter (husband, Howard) of Santa Fe, N.M. She is also survived by a stepdaughter, Charlotte Lindsey of Crockett, Texas, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Though most of her friends had passed on ahead of her, "Mamaw" or "Big Mama" was a true matriarch to an extended generation of family and friends. She leaves a light shining in the lives of all who knew her, and her love will remain undimmed. She believed in unconditional love and taught her family those values as well. We will miss her in our lives, but her place in our hearts is eternal.

Pallbearers will be Jason Permenter, Katharine Permenter, Zachary Teague, Tommy Gibbs, Ron Gibbs, and Colton Badolato. Honorary pallbearers will be Chase Havard, Kaden Yates, Jimmie Armstrong Sr., and Steven Horton.

Services are set for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 201,7 at Cason Monk-Metcalf's Sunset Chapel in Nacogdoches, Texas, with Jerry Permenter and Garland Teague officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday October 11, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
