Agnes Ankenbruck Stanley passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 in Houston, Texas.
She was born May 13, 1928 in Houston to Marie (Wey) and Leo Ankenbruck.
A lifelong resident of Houston, Agnes graduated high school from Incarnate Word Academy. She studied nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston and became an RN. She practiced nursing at St. Joseph Hospital and later for 32 years at Shriners Hospital for Children until retiring in 1999. Agnes also volunteered for many years at the Ronald McDonald House in Houston and as a docent at the Houston Audubon Society's Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, G.C. "Pete" Stanley; her sisters Frances Bartlett and Margaret Teague; and her brother Joseph Ankenbruck. She is survived by her three children: Larry Stanley and his wife Tina, Greg Stanley, and Robert Stanley and his wife Elizabeth, all of Houston; her three grandchildren: Austin Stanley of San Francisco, CA, Matthew Stanley of Houston, TX, and Allison Stanley of College Station, TX; her sister Ann Marie Barnaby of Richardson, TX; her sisters-in-law Nita Ankenbruck of Pearland, TX and Ellen Jean King of Hutto, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Agnes loved and was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.
A Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 9900 Stella Link Road, Houston with a reception following at the church hall.
