Albert Henry Krumwiede, 76, of East Peoria, IL passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family.

Al was born on December 28, 1940 in Bancroft, NE, the son of Friedrich "Fritz" and Frances (Tryon) Krumwiede. He attended Rosalie High School, graduating in 1960. Following graduation Al farmed in the Walthill, NE area and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1961. Albert married Patricia Colleen Bloodworth on October 26, 1967 in East Peoria, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his children: Keith (Kim) Krumwiede of East Peoria, IL and Alecia (Michael) Closen of Washington, IL; his grandchildren: Nathan (Lauren Breedlove) Closen of Midland, NC, Courtney (Joshua Turner) Huffman of Washington, IL, Joseph "Joey" Huffman III of Washington, IL, Brian Krumwiede of East Peoria, IL, and Katlinn Guilliams of East Peoria, IL; and his siblings: Lyle (Beverly) Krumwiede of Metamora, IL, Vernon (Pat) Krumwiede of Courtland, MO, Ellen Burns of Sioux City, IA, Betty (Ralph) Sommer of East Peoria, IL, Katherine Swinson of Melbourne, FL, Rita (Jack) Daughery of Spokane, WA, Mary Sisk of Spearfish, SD, and Linda (Marshall) Logue of East Peoria, IL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Bill and Kenny Krumwiede.

Throughout the past 50 years Al owned several businesses in both East Peoria and Pekin, retiring from Modal Marketing in 2013. Al was a member of the 2 Cylinder Club, the East Peoria American Legion, the East Peoria Jaycee's, and was also known as the voice of "Mike the Bike" for the East Peoria Police Department. Al also enjoyed coaching his sons little league teams, owning and sponsoring several stock cars, woodworking, farming, fishing, gardening, traveling, collecting John Deere tractors and of course Nebraska football, Go Big Red! Al will be remembered not only as a husband, father, and grandfather, but as a United States Marine, a true hero.
