Albert was born in Yolo County to John and Tina Pardini Matinelli. He grew up in Clarksburg where he graduated from Clarksburg High School. He attended UC Davis for a short time. He went into the farming business at the early age of 17, after his father passed away. Albert and his brother John created Martinelli Brothers and started growing asparagus; tomatoes for Campbell Soup and Contadina; sugar beets for Spreckles Sugar; alfalfa and other grains in Davis and Clarksburg. He served as President of the board of Reclamation District 765. Martinelli Brothers won the grower of the year distinction by Campbell Soup on a number of years. He was truly an unforgettable person in the Delta farming community and will be greatly missed.

Surviving Albert are his youngest son Leonard (JoAnn) Martinelli; Leonard's children, daughter Michelle (Brett) Ylizaliturri and their children Vincent, Sage and Taylor; Leonard's daughter Elisa Baumgarte and her children Aiden and Corey; and Leonard's son, Anthony.
