Dr. Albert Johnson Jr., 82, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Albert was born in Bedford County, Virginia, to the late Albert Johnson Sr. and Ora Leftwich Johnson.

Dr. Johnson was a retired Physician and Colonel of the United States Air Force. Albert's education began with a Bachelor of Arts from Lincoln University, continuing his studies with a Masters of Science from Howard University. Albert forged on with his education obtaining a PhD from the University of Illinois, before earning his Medical Degree from Howard University. Albert finished his formal education with a Master's Degree in Public Health. While serving as Colonel, Dr. Johnson was appointed as Hospital Commander in Vietnam and also accepted the position of Flight Surgeon. Upon returning to the States, Dr. Johnson completed courses in both Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base and Aerospace Pathology at Walter Reed Medical Center. His last duty was Commanding Military Airlift, insuring logistics for Airmen all over the world in need of urgent or specialized care.

Albert was a member of the Love and Faith Christian Fellowship in Greensboro, North Carolina. He had been a faithful member of many churches throughout his life. Albert always gave of his time and gifts to churches and communities alike. His personal relationship with Jesus was a lifelong journey.

Dr. Johnson is predeceased by his parents and a son, Eric Escort. He is survived by his wife Antonia Johnson; sister Mildred Thompson and her two children Paul Thompson and Elana Thompson; his two daughters and their husbands, Sidni and Chris Conway, and Shawn and Johnny Hernandez; his two sons, Ricky Thompson and Tommy Thompson; his two grandchildren, Carli Harmon and Jianni Hernandez; and his cousin, Sylvia Cooper. Albert is also survived by his brothers and sister-in-laws, Rick and Brenda Williams and Benson Bennett.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017, 11:00am at Love and Faith Christian Fellowship, 4344 Blackberry Road, Greensboro, North Carolina. Visitation will be at the church starting at 10:30 am. Interment with Full Military Honors will be on Friday, March 31, 2017, 11:00 am at Salisbury National Cemetery, 202 South Railroad Road, Salisbury, North Carolina.
