Albert Paul Meadows, 79 of Paint Bank passed away Monday, May 22nd, 2006 at Alleghany Rehab Health Center in Clifton Forge.

Born in Giles County on March 31st, 1927, he was the son of the late Adolphus Meadows and Hattie Perdue Meadows. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served two tours of duty. His military career spanned from 1945 to 1952. During his first tour of duty, he served as an Army medic at Bruns General Hospital in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In his second tour of duty, he served as an Army medic in Korea during the Korean War. He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lena Mae Meadows; one son, Gale A. Meadows and wife Cathy Meadows of Paint Pank; one granddaughter, Melanie S. Walker and husband Chris Walker of Altavista, Virginia; one grandson, Adam S. Meadows of Paint Bank; two great-grandsons, David A. Walker and Daniel E. Walker, both of Altavista; a sister, Bernice Harman of Glen Lyn; a brother, Curtis C. Meadows of Paint Bank; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 25th, 2006 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Hershel O'Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service Wednesday from 6-8 PM.
