Alexander Shute Brown, Jr. ( Sandy) peacefully passed away on June 8, 2017 surrounded by family. Born in East Orange NJ to the late Alexander Shute Brown and the late Geraldine Smith Brown, Sandy grew up in Short Hills and Summit NJ and graduated from Newark Academy and the University of Bridgeport. A 43 year resident of Carrollwood Village, he leaves his beloved wife Margaret (Missy). He was a wonderful father to his cherished 3 daughters and their very special husbands - Lisa and Jorge Rodriguez of Tampa, Muffy and Todd Thomas of Denver, Katie and Ray McDonald of Savannah and was a special grandfather to his adored, precious grandchildren Alex and Sara Rodriguez, Mason and Cameron Thomas and Barrett and Walker McDonald. He also leaves behind his much loved brother Graham Brown and family of Sarasota, sister-in-law Gail Swain, his mother-in-law Hilda Boyles and other family members. Sandy is preceded in death by his granddaughter Laura Rodriguez, brother John Swain and nephew Sandy Swain.

After 20 years with the Insurance Company of North America Sandy began the dream job of many - and for 21 years captained a sport fishing boat giving him the opportunity to meet and make new friends from all walks of life as well as experiencing wonderful travels. He loved it and the opportunity to work with his special friends at Caspers Company. Sandy was a man who was a loyal friend and supporter of all. He loved being on the water, on the golf course, or tinkering at his tool bench in the garage. Above all, Sandy felt most at home cooking and entertaining family and friends.

His celebration of a life well lived is Thursday June 29th at 2pm, St. Marks Episcopal Church, 13312 Cain Rd., Tampa 33625. Please feel free to dress in Sandy apparel - no suits, bright colors, Hawaiian shirts and no socks. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to Meals On Wheels of Tampa, 550 W. Hillsborough Ave. Tampa 33603.
