Alfonso Vasquez Sr., 75, Colorado City, passed away at his home on January 3, 2018.
He was born on April 20, 1942 in Sweetwater Texas to Moises Vasquez and Damiana Badillo Vasquez.
Alfonso was a very private person who loved his faith and his family with all his heart. He worked for many years for Tex DOT and people in the area can still see him standing in the GradeAll driving down the road with a big smile on his face. He was the type of man who enjoyed the simple things in life and made sure to enjoy every aspect of his life. Though he was private he never missed the opportunity to cut up and joke around with just about anyone. No matter how busy his day to day life was he always made time for his children and grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. In his spare time he could be seen listening to music, watching music videos from the 1950's to 1960's on YouTube and playing his guitar. Those that knew him knew him by a plethora of knicknames, such as Fonz, Ponch, Fonzarelli, Yuka, Dad, Grampa, and Grampy.
He is survived by his mother Damiana Badilla Contreras of Colorado City, his sons Luis Vasquez of Colorado City, Alfonso Vasquez Jr. of Wimberly, and Marcos Vasquez of Colorado City, and by his daughters Leticia Mitchell of Colorado City and Patricia Vasquez also of Colorado City, and by their mother Velia Vasquez. Also surviving are his brothers Martin Badillo of Abilene and Guadalupe Vasquez of Arlington, his grandchildren; Kris, Krisha, Kayla, Brittany, Marcos Jr., Matthew, Audie, and Issac, as well as his great-grandchildren Destyni, Kyrin, Ximena, Kira, Lilliana, Zaiden, and Connelly. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father Ramon Contreras, his sister Elida, and his son Lucio Vasquez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 6th at 10 am at Saint Ann's Catholic Church with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow in the Loraine Cemetery.
A visitation for Alfonso will be held on Friday, January 5th from 6-8 pm at Kiker Seale Funeral Home with a rosary to be performed at 7 pm.
