Alfred "Al" Evinger, 97, of Aurora, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2019 at Symphony of Orchard Valley. He was born on May 3, 1922 in McCune, Kansas, the son of the late Alfred and Anna (Harris) Evinger.

Al served his country and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in WWII. He was able to take the Honor Flight in 2010 with fellow servicemen and servicewomen. Al was a member of the American Legion Post #1044. Al retired after many years of service at Austin-Western. Following retirement, Al and his wife, Dorothy, resided in Texas before coming back to Aurora, where he resided at Symphony of Orchard Valley for the past 10 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Bonnie (Dwight) McConnell; his granddaughters, Dawn (Denny) Aagesen and Ginger (Robert) Holly; his great grandchildren, Andrew, Alex and Chandler Aagesen and Tyler and Megan Kaufman; his great great grandson, Asher (Kaufman) Dillon and several nieces and nephews.

Al was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Evinger; his sisters, Viola Matlock and Hazel Wendland and his brother, Russell Evinger.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 5 P.M. until the service hour of 7 P.M. at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora, IL. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Riverside Cemetery in a private service.
