Alice Jean Spitzer, 87, of The Woodlands passed away Sunday, December 17th. She was born in Chicago, IL on November 20, 1930. Alice was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 40 years, Harry Jack Spitzer, and her parents, Iva and Jacob Ropp.

Forever our Golden Girl (her favorite TV show), Alice was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be remembered for her spunk and witty words of wisdom. She had a passion for crafting, Houston sports teams (especially the World Series Champion Houston Astros), celebrity gossip and movies.

Alice was known among friends and family to sing on birthdays, send cards for every holiday, bake cookies for Christmas, and brag about her kids and grandkids. The life of the party, her family will miss her signaling the end of winter...by switching her cocktail of choice from a scotch-and-soda to a Mai Tai.

For 20 years, Alice worked in HR and then spent 10 years at Michaels, the arts & crafts supply store.

She is survived by her two sisters, Eileen Ropp Schumann and Dolores Ropp Kalchin, four children, son Harry Spitzer, and daughters Susan Spitzer Goldblatt, Peggy Spitzer Alderman, Lynne Spitzer Pichotta, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., December 22 at Forest Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Operation Pets Alive, a Montgomery County no-kill animal sheltering organization, and/or the American Heart Association.
