Alice Kouwenhoven Pringle, age 81, of Wilmette, died July 29, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Homer S. Pringle. Loving mother of Susan (Fred) Basch, Elizabeth Pringle, Sarah (Brian) Thomson and the late Anne Pringle. Cherished grandmother of Callie, Emma, Bailey and Jack. Dear sister of Phyllis Pullen.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Mrs. Pringle graduated from Goucher College in 1956 and Cornell Law School in 1962, where she met her husband, H.S. Pringle. After graduating, they moved to Boston, where Mrs. Pringle was one of only nine women to pass the Massachusetts bar, then lived in Needham, Massachusetts until 1976.

After moving to Wilmette, Mrs. Pringle opened and ran the record store Off The Record on Central Avenue in 1981 until she sold it in 1990. After retiring, she was an active volunteer for many years at the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette, the North Shore Senior Center, the Midwest Palliative Care Center (now Journey Care) and the Presbyterian Home at Westminster Place.

Memorial Service Tuesday August 9th at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette, 600 9th St., followed by a memorial gathering at Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home, 1100 Greenleaf, 3-7 pm.
