Allan O. Miller, 90, passed away at 11:44 pm Wednesday January 10, 2017 at St. Paul's Home.

He was born on August 17, 1927, the son of the late Oscar E. and Katherine L. (Weidemann) Miller.

Allan married Marjorie E. Hill on June 21, 1958 in Belleville. She preceded him in death on August 15, 1996.

Allan was born and raised in Belleville. Allan's father worked for the L&N Railroad and during his younger years, Allan lived in various small Southern Illinois towns before returning to Belleville. Allan entered the Army Air Force in November of 1945 and was honorably discharged in December 1946. Allan completed his electronics training at Ranken Technical Institute. Following his training, Allan obtained employment at Scott Air Force base in 1951 as an electronics technician and would become the AFET ("Air Force Electronic Technician") for the C9-A (Nightingale) and served in this role from 1968 until his retirement in 1989. While working at Scott Air Force Base, Allan also served his community with two terms on the local school board, as president of his HOA, two terms as president of the Belleville Toastmasters, participated in the Ranken Alumni Association and served in various roles at Christ United Church of Christ in Belleville. After his retirement, Allan continued to remain active by doing taxes with AARP, Home Freeze and Circuit Breaker; qualified to work with the Belleville Crisis Hotline; worked at the Fairview Heights and Interfaith Food Pantries; performed as greeter during tax season and in SHIP for PSOP; delivered flowers for Bob Dill florist; and worked in the Belleville Bicentennial Store. In his spare time, Allan continued to repair electronics and enjoyed his model train hobby.

He is survived by his son Scott (Cindy) Miller of Fairview Heights; two grandchildren MacKenzie (Courtney) Stephens and Katrina Stephens; four great grandchildren Bethsaida, Rayah, Xiander, and Noelle Stephens; eleven nieces and nephews Steven Crossley, David (Deb) Crossley, Jeff (Debbie) Crossley, Pam (Jim) Lloyd, David (Annette) Miller, Russell Miller, Gail McAlpin, Melvin (Gina) Miller, Joanne (Bill) McKeag, Laura (Harold) Stark, Paul (Janet) Gilbert; many great nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Margaret (Albert) Spinner.

Visitation will be held on Saturday January 13, 2017 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday January 14, 2017 at 2 pm at Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital.
