Allen Guenther Mattejat, 50, of Staunton, VA, passed away on May 26, 2017. Allen leaves behind a legacy of love which includes his cherished wife of 15 years, a large number of beloved family and prized friends, his much loved furbabies, and many miles of wind therapy on his beloved Harley Davidson.
Allen was born in New York to Guenther Robert Mattejat and Hedi Kloepper Mattejat on February 3, 1967. He married Donna Willis on March 2, 2002. He often referred to Donna, who survives him, as "my lovely". In addition, Allen is survived by his brother, Peter Mattejat of Fulton, MD and a sister, Karen Mattejat Conkling and her husband, John, of Massapequa, NY. Allen also leaves a number of nieces and nephews who he dearly loved. Allen was preceded in death by both of his parents, as well as his much loved sister-in-law, Laura.

Allen was a member in good standing of Alcoholics Anonymous; where he celebrated his 'second birthday' on January 3, 1994. He courageously conquered his demons through the fellowship and many friends he found in the A.A. rooms. Allen was known for his dependence on his higher power, his sense of humility, and his finely-tuned sense of humor. Following the A.A. traditions of sharing his experiences, Allen was always willing to help others in recovery.

Allen was a proud employee of Dynamic Aviation. He loved being part of the close-knit family in the workplace where he had formed many lasting friendships. Allen & other motorcycle riders from Dynamic began an annual Blue Ridge Parkway ride from Afton Mountain to the Peaks of Otter, otherwise known as the POO ride.

Allen had a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. He and Donna are members of the Parkway Wesleyan Church in Staunton where they both worked with the El Salvador Mission Team. Allen had planned to accompany the team on a mission trip this December, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Allen's memory for the El Salvador team to the Parkway Wesleyan Church, 1987 Springhill Road, Staunton, VA 24401.

Allen leaves a legacy of forming strong, lasting friendships and of helping others. He will be profoundly missed.

A memorial service will be conducted at Parkway Wesleyan Church, 1987 Springhill Road, Staunton, VA 24401, on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Barry Lawson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
