Allen Lubbock Lewis, Native Houstonian, died November 30, 2017 at his current residence, The Forum in Houston. He was a descendent of Frances R. Lubbock, the ninth Governor for the State of Texas. Mr. Lewis was born on July 16, 1924, the only child of Katherine Adair Lubbock and Charles Allen Lewis.
A lifelong Presbyterian, he was a member of several congregations serving as Deacon, Elder and choir member, before joining his current church family as Southwest Presbyterian Church in America in Bellaire, Texas. He and his wife Martha had been married for sixty-nine years. Their long marriage was a tribute to faith in Jesus Christ, affirmation of each other, being dedicated "help mates" and abiding in steadfast love.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by, his parents and his son, the youngest of their four children, Kenneth Charles "Ken" Lewis in 1989.
He is also survived by three children, twelve grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Daughter, Katherine "Adair" Lewis Gockley of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and her children, Meredith Gockley Hedemann and husband Travis of Houston, Texas, and their children, Alexandra and Flynn Hedemann, Lauren Gockley of Trinidad, Colorado, and Adam Gockley of Austin, Texas; Daughter, Susan Jane Lewis King of Abilene, Texas and her children Helen King of Charlotte, North Carolina and her children, Austin Stockstill and Blake Stockstill; Lewis King and wife Heidi of Fort Worth, Texas and their children, Katy, Rhodes, Benjamin King; Martha King of Austin, Texas; Son, Lawrence Jameson "Larry" Lewis and wife Peggy of Parker, Texas and their children, Jonathan Lewis and wife Erin of Vidor, Texas and their children, David, Alex, Abigail, and Annabelle Lewis; Katie Lewis of Allen, Texas and her child Ayden Young; Andrew Lewis of Irving, Texas and his child, Cameron Lewis and Jennifer Lewis Kirk and husband Jonathan of Parker, Texas. Son, Kenneth Charles "Ken" and Paula Lewis (Rusty Walter) ; Charlie Lewis and wife Mandy of Houston, Texas, Rich Lewis and wife Kayla of Houston, Texas. He was a graduate of Rice Institute (University) with a degree in Chemical Engineering and lettered in golf. Mr. Lewis was a process engineer beginning with Shell, followed by Lummus, Procon, Litwin, and Fluor over the years. Special memories of Mr. Lewis include his love of Rice baseball and being an avid golfer which he shared with many of his grandsons. The Lamar High School 41'ers was a great fellowship group for Allen. A lifelong Republican, Mr. Lewis was a regular as a precinct judge during election season. In his own way, he celebrated the recent and first Astros World Series Championship.
