Mrs. Alma Joyce (Simmons) Fields, 63, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Joyce was born on November 9, 1951 in Sampson County, North Carolina to the late Junius Elliott and Eunice Nance Simmons. She had worked in the hosiery industry for many years and later as a babysitter, which she greatly enjoyed. Joyce had a passion for catfishing on Badin Lake and was a big-hearted, kind woman who loved her family dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Donald Earl Simmons and Junius Ray Simmons; and son-in-law, David Hess.
Surviving are her husband of over 46 years, William Carey Fields of the home; three daughters, Wanda Fields and Rhonda Hess of the home, and Donna Craven and her husband Matt of Wallburg; adopted daughter, Melissa Dinger and her husband Matt of Asheboro; two grandchildren, William Hess and Nicholas Craven; and one great grandchild, Sula Reed Hess. Also surviving are five sisters, Faye Ezzell of Texas, Judy Bradshaw of Thomasville, Kaye Austin of Roseboro, Mary Fann of Wallace, and Rosie Bryant of Roseboro; and two brothers, Corbin Simmons of Hickory and James Simmons of Roseboro.
A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 2 pm Saturday, April 18th in the chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service, 120 Trindale Road, Archdale with Pastor Toby Hunt officiating with a visitation from 12pm until 2 pm. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.
