Alma Marie Dorsey, 96, of Evansville, went to be with the Lord, on June 28, 2017 at Heritage Center. She was born February 20, 1921, in Evansville, to the late Roy and Lillian Jolly.
She was a lifetime member of the Bible Center Cathedral, where she faithfully taught Sunday School. She worked at the Bible Bookstore. She volunteered at the YMCA with special needs children, helping them learn to swim. During World War II, she went into the workforce repairing transistor radios. Alma was a loving mother and grandmother who taught her family how to live their lives devoted to Christ. She had an infectious sense of humor, loved to laugh, and had a feisty personality.
Alma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Walter J. Dorsey, and brother, Roy Jolly, Jr.
She is survived by children, Nancy (Rev. Rick) Van Hoose, Debbie Collins, and Karen (Rick) Bender; grandchildren, Julie (James) Wells, and Jeron (Kim) Van Hoose; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Lena, and Lyndi Wells, Hannah Brune, and Harrison Van Hoose, and several nephews. She had a close and loving relationship with Reeser and Jennifer Williams and always enjoyed when they sang to her.
A Funeral Service will be 12:00 p.m., Monday, July 3, 2017, at Bible Center Cathedral, 5000 N. 1st Avenue, officiated by Rev. Julie Wells, Rev. Rick Van Hoose, and Rev. Alan Shelby, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the church.
